Every image that carries meaning has a text alternative. Decorative images are marked as such, not read aloud.
Body text is at least 4.5:1 against its background. Large text and icons need 3:1.
You can Tab through every link, button, and form field — and see where focus is — without touching a mouse.
Every input has a visible label linked to it, not just a placeholder that disappears when you start typing.
Video has captions, audio has a transcript. Auto-generated captions still need a human check for accuracy.
One H1 per page, then H2s and H3s in order — no skipping levels just because a smaller heading looks better.
When you Tab to a button or link, you can actually see it's focused — not just guess from muscle memory.
A screen reader user jumping link-to-link should understand where "here" or "read more" actually goes.
